The 62-year-old actor’s ex-wife Elvira Castle, 61, has blasted him as a deadbeat who owes her $1.8 million in back spousal support. And now, court documents reveal his residual showbiz payments have been seized.
What’s more, Elvira — mom of John’s three adult children — filed a subpoena with the Screen Actors Guild to find out who’s paying her ex!
Sources say the residual payments won’t come close to covering his debt.
“He’s like, ‘I have to eat, I have to live,’ and yet here he is working his fingers to the bone for the rest of his life now because she’s made the system work for her,” explains a source. “It’s a real nightmare scenario.”
John and Elvira’s battle over alimony dates back to February 2016, when a judge ordered the actor to cough up $18,911 a month in support based on his monthly income of $40,000. Although the divorce wasn’t official until August 2019, in 2018 the star — who played blond-haired Bo Duke on the hit series — was jailed for three days for failing to comply with court-ordered payments. Elvira claimed he owed her $150,000, but he insisted he was leveraged “to the max” with loans at the time.
“It’s as though John buried his head in the sand hoping Elvira would just go away,” says the source. “But she’s never going to do that.”
