GWEN’S COUNTRY CRAVING GIVES BLAKE THE BLUES!

-

GLAM Gwen Stefani thinks she’s got what it takes to switch musical gears from pop princess to country music queen — but competitive Nashville king Blake Shelton isn’t eager to share his reign with his ambitious wife, sources dish. Gwen drew two standing ovations at Tennessee’s Grand Ole Opry when she made her debut with Blake — and tipsters say the warm welcome has fueled her desire to go honky-tonk!

A pal confides the former No Doubt frontwoman, 53, believes she’s “getting a bit long in the tooth” to compete with twentysomething pop songbirds.

“Playing the Grand Ole Opry made her feel country music fans will embrace her,” the friend spills.

But sources snitch the God’s Country crooner, 46, is telling his honey to hold her horses! An insider says, “Blake was already married to a country queen in Miranda Lambert — and that turned out to be a disaster. The last thing he wants is to compete against Gwen on the country music charts — and see Gwen win!”

According to spies, since the blond babe notched two No. 1 country hits with Happy Anywhere and Nobody But You — both duets with Blake — she’s itching to record her own down-home album.

The insider claims Gwen is aware Blake doesn’t want them to be considered a country husband-and-wife team, like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

“But she’s happy to go out on her own in Nashville and give her career a needed boost,” the insider adds.

“It’s become a big sticking point between them.”
