Streisand tells pals no one is raining on her parade now that her amateur pilot husband, James Brolin, has been grounded for good! Brolin — who owns several small aircraft and has logged over 1,500 hours piloting them — got the sobering news after he tried to renew his California pilot’s insurance and learned he was too OLD at 82 to sit in the cockpit!
Friends say the bad news for James was music to Babs’ ears, because the 80-yearold singer has begged him for years to come back down to earth — for fear that the former Marcus Welby, M.D. star could perish in a crash. But Brolin kept insisting that flying the friendly skies was one of his greatest joys and refused to let the Way We Were songbird clip his wings, causing tension in the marriage, sources say. “James loved his planes,” spills an insider. “He always pleaded with Barbra to fly with him, but she has a fear of flying and suffers from agoraphobia.”
The closest Babs has ever gotten to flying with James was when she agreed to have dinner in the cockpit while he taxied around the airport — without ever leaving the ground!
