Heche reveals in the upcoming Call Me Anne that she had never been with a woman before hooking up in 1997 with Ellen, now 64.
“I did not, personally, identify as a lesbian,” she writes. “I simply fell in love! It was, to be clear, as odd to me as anyone else.
There were no words to describe how I felt. Gay didn’t feel right, and neither did straight. Alien might be the best fit.”
As The National ENQUIRER reported, Anne died Aug. 11, six days after she was burned beyond recognition in a horrific car accident that saw her smash her blue Mini Cooper into the side of someone’s home.
In her book, she echoes claims she made during her lifetime that Hollywood blacklisted her for being in an openly lesbian relationship: “I was labeled ‘outrageous’ because I fell in love with a woman.”
