DIVA Duchess Meghan Markle’s twisted obsession to outshine her sisterin-law Kate sparked a blood feud that ripped apart the royal family — and it got worse after the palace shot down her demand that they issue a face-saving statement, The National ENQUIRER has learned. Sources say she viciously smeared the Princess of Wales after the palace refused to bend to Meghan’s will.
“Meghan expected to be a royal superstar when she married Harry but quickly realized Kate stood in her way,” confides a high-level palace courtier. “She seethed over playing second fiddle to William’s wife, who will be queen when her husband succeeds his father, King Charles.
“She was also jealous of Kate’s close relationship with Harry, who’s called the princess the sister he never had.”
The bad blood exploded during the run-up to Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. The volatile former
Suits star, 41, reportedly left Kate, 40, in tears during a bridesmaid dress-fitting for Princess Charlotte, 7. “Meghan became obsessed with denying the story,” charges Valentine Low, author of the new book Courtiers:
The Hidden Power Behind the Crown. “But the palace was equally adamant it would be a serious mistake to comment on personal tittle-tattle about members of the royal family.
“It would only fan the flames.”
Meghan never forgave them — or forgot, say sources.
In a bombshell 2021 TV interview, the devious duchess not only stunned the palace by accusing the royals of racism and refusing her help when she was
suicidal, she also turned the tables on the dress-fitting confrontation. Meghan claimed that a scheming
Kate orchestrated the whole thing, making HER cry, rather than the other way around! Meghan blasted the palace for being “willing to lie to protect other members of the family, but not willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.”
The outburst was the height of hypocrisy, Low says. “Meghan had spent months complaining her reputation had been smeared, and now she was doing the same to Kate — who quite clearly was never going to respond,” charges the author.
Now living in a $14 million mansion in Montecito, Calif., with their son, Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 16 months, Meghan and henpecked Harry, 38, have been dumped to the bottom of the Royal Family website — alongside disgraced Prince Andrew. “The buzz in the palace is Meghan made a huge mistake in dissing Kate,” says the courtier.
“She could have been a royal star, but her obsession with outsmarting her sisterin-law ended that — fast.”
