COUNTRY GEORGE BUTTS HEADS WITH CITY SLICKER WIFE!

-

COUNTRY legend George Strait is ready to saddle up as a full-time rancher — but he’s butting heads with his sophisticated sweetie, who ain’t ready to give up bigcity livin’, sources squeal.

The Down and Out singer and wife Norma, both 70, recently unloaded their San Antonio digs for $6.9 million. Now, George is itching to kick back at his 8,000-acre Texas ranch near the Mexico border, an insider dishes.

“George has played in front of millions of fans in his career, but the only faces he wants to see now are on his horses and cattle,” a friend squeals. “He may be an international superstar, but George is basically a loner. He’s happiest when he’s at the ranch, away from the world.” Sources spill city slicker Norma — his wife of 50 years — is digging in her heels! The town closest to the ranch is itty-bitty Catarina, which has only 100 residents, while the nearest city, Cotulla, has a population of just 3,700!

“You have to drive a half hour to get a quart of milk!” another pal explains. “George’s life away from performing is all about ranching and roping, but Norma loves to shop at fancy stores and have nice lunches with her gal friends.

“Norma loves the ranch, too — but not as a 365-day-a-year proposition.”

Still, sources say George, whose 60 No. 1 hits are the most in country music history, has no intention of giving up his dream! The pal admits, “It’s a major sticking point between them.”
