DON’T NUKE RUSSIA IF PUTIN NUKES UKRAINE!
Retired U.S. general’s grim advice for President Biden Every American’s life is hanging in the balance
RUSSIA’S beleaguered president Vladimir Putin is threatening to unleash a nuclear weapon in Europe – and our own commanderin-chief, Joe Biden, has told the world the Kremlin isn’t bluffing!
This puts America and its allies in a hard place, but we must stand firm and be prepared to act if the unthinkable happens.
After 32 years in the military as a commander of troops, my advice to President Biden would be to invoke Article 5 of the NATO treaty and declare war against the Russian Federation if Putin were ever to launch a nuclear weapon against a member of the alliance.
I would also recommend that the president launch a nuclear counterstrike against planned targets in Russia proportional to the Russian nuclear offensive against NATO. My only hope for humanity at that point is that a cessation
of strikes on both sides could be negotiated
to prevent a total Armageddon. We must resort to this path of action to stop Putin from further escalating the situation.
But if Putin launches a tactical nuke in Ukraine, I would recommend that the president not counter-launch but first assess the target and the destruction. The Russian launch could well be a decoy to draw the U.S. and NATO forces into an all-out nuclear war and, frankly, defending Ukraine is not worth the cost of global nuclear holocaust.
The U.S. would be far better off — at that point — relying on other tools of war and statecraft to further isolate Russia and bring about a regime change there.
Make no mistake, Putin is not bluffing with his threats about nuclear war in Europe, but my counsel to the president would always be to take a path that would lead to de-escalation through a show of strength.
You never want to show weakness in the face of a bully-tyrant like Putin. He only understands one way of doing things, and the president must respond in kind even if it means further bloodshed.
