Sources snitch that for all his talent and enviable $250 million fortune, Costner, 67, can’t hold a candle to Ford, 80, when it comes to being Mr. Popularity. “Kevin’s not exactly a warm and cuddly person and every other word out of his mouth is an expletive, just like his character John Dutton — but at least Harrison cracks a smile now and then,” spills an insider. Ford was recently spotted shooting scenes on horseback in Western garb in Butte, Mont., as he laughed and joked easily with the crew. “Everyone’s saying what a
great guy Harrison is, so easy to work with, friendly with the crew, no star trips,” squeals an insider. “The bosses are exploding with pride that they were even able to get him for this series. Kevin’s a big star, too, but Harrison’s a walking legend!”
Like 1883 and Yellowstone, the new show follows a generation of the Duttons — with Ford playing Jacob Dutton, patriarch of the Yellowstone ranch, and Helen Mirren as his wife. Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Robert Patrick and Timothy Dalton round out the cast. “While Harrison is sociable, Kevin has been known to keep a distance from co-workers,” tattles a tipster.
Although a source close to Costner says talk of a feud is “patently false,” the insider claims, “Kevin’s gotten a little jealous of Harrison. It’s really rattling his cage. They have their similarities — both know their way around a ranch and can handle a horse — but they’ve competed for roles for years and now some are betting that 1923 is going to knock Kevin off that high horse he’s been riding!”
