Matthew Perry — who details his horrific battles with substance abuse in a new memoir — reveals he stashed away 100 Xanax pills at a time so he could “keep up” with hard-partying pal Bruce Willis!
“Some might be able to party perfectly well and still show up and do the work, but they weren’t addicts like I was,” admits Perry about how he was “desperate” to buddy up with Bruce when they co-starred in The Whole Nine Yards in 2000. The Friends alum says the heavy-duty sedative calmed him after wild nights so he could make it to the set the next morning.
“So, I’d gotten The
Whole Nine Yards and had embarked on a friendship with the most famous movie star on the planet, but even I knew I was drinking way too much to pull this movie off,” says Perry.
With the pills, however, “I can drink with Bruce” and still somewhat function!
