BRENDA BOUNCES BACK!

Singer’s sweet revenge on everyone who kicked her to the curb 16 yrs ago

-

BOUNCY Brenda Lee is getting the last laugh after the music industry put her out to pasture 16 years ago — the diminutive dynamo, now 79, has beaten such decades-younger singers, including Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa, to the top of the charts!

Georgia’s Little Miss Dynamite, who had her first hit in 1957 when she was 12, saw her holiday classic Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree finally hit number one an astounding 65 years after she recorded it, making her the oldest artist to have a song top the charts!

And it makes Brenda — the first woman elected into both the country and rock music halls of fame — think back to when she faded from the scene in 2007 with the release of her final album. Since then, she has rarely been seen in concert halls.

“Brenda saw the industry didn’t have much use for an old broad like her, even though she had so many big rock and country hits,” warbles a pal.

“She was only 62 when she hung it up, about the same age as Garth Brooks is now — and he’s still going strong! The folks back then who thought she was too old for the game have all retired or died, while Brenda’s just getting her second wind.”

With the new career buzz, the 4-foot-9 hitmaker made a triumphant return to the stage Dec. 5 in a benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame, which her buddy blabs has led to big-bucks offers to hit the road again.

And while Lee made peace with her retirement, saying, “God blessed me that I didn’t miss it,” sources say she’s glorying in the spotlight again.

“Promoters are offering her the moon to play concerts, and this late-in-life career boost has her thinking she should take them up on it!” croons her pal.
