“I think that there was a time prior to the pandemic where the idea that someone might become a porn star was akin to saying that someone might be abducted by aliens,” says Mike Stabile, a spokesman for the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry. “I think that what the pandemic and the sort of explosion of fan content showed was that a lot of people were open to doing it.”
As for Monica, she estimates she spent between $200,000 and $300,000 on promotion and coaching for her new career—and never looked back. Now, she aims to be financially set in ten years.
“In the future, I want to keep my own pages going,” she says. “But I want to move more into coaching and social media master classes.”
