In an exhibition that will run through 2022, the National Museum of the American Indian dissects the American Indian images, names and stories that are infused in American history and contemporary life. Titled Americans, the exhibition highlights the ways in which American Indians have been a part of the nation’s identity since before the country began, and analyze the imagery that pervades our culture, including the Land O’lakes butter maiden, the Cleveland Indians’ mascot and the Tomahawk missile.
