Buffalo Barry’s Indian Art

-

As a specialist in Hopi katsina carvings, Buffalo Barry’s owner Barry Walsh is drawn to Hopi baskets that depict katsinam in both the wicker and coiled basketry forms. He likes to display them alongside a katsina, as he finds they “complement each other and have a powerful spirit in combination.” Depicted from left, is a Hopi wicker plaque depicting eagle, circa 1940; a 1930s Wilson Tawaquaptewa carving; and a Hopi wicker plaque depicting Crow Mother from around 1930.
