Police investigate first homicide of the year
NEW HAVEN — Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year.
A man was found on the sidewalk on Diamond Street near Roger White Drive in the Beaver Hills neighborhood around 5:41 a.m. Thursday, police said in a release. Personnel from the New Haven Police Department, New Haven Fire Department and American Medical Response were dispatched to the scene and medical personnel began rendering medical assistance, according to the release.
The man, later identified as 46-year-old city resident David London, was taken via ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
London died as the result of a gunshot wound to the head, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined after an autopsy was performed Friday, police said. His death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
