The fam­ily of David Green an­nounces with sad­ness his death at age 92 on Satur­day, Jan­uary 12, 2019 at Ever­green Woods, North Bran­ford, fol­low­ing a stroke. Born in Detroit, MI on Fe­bru­ary 2, 1926, David grew up in River­head, LI. David will be ter­ri­bly missed by his wife, Vir­ginia Shaw, and his daugh­ters Su­san Shaw (John), Daina Green (Barry), Su­san Green, Rachel Green and Phoebe Shaw (Dave). He will be lov­ingly re­mem­bered by grand­chil­dren David Green, Solly Chase, Charles Richards and Ruby Chase; nephew Bill Green; his first wife Meryl, and many other rel­a­tives and friends. A WWII vet pre­de­ceased by his brother Jack, David re­tired from a ful­fill­ing ca­reer as an au­di­ol­o­gist and beloved pro­fes­sor most re­cently at South­ern Con­necti­cut State Uni­ver­sity. He was a well-known mu­si­cian on the lo­cal folk mu­sic scene and an avid ten­nis player to the end of his 80s. His serve was al­ways im­prov­ing. He was a men­sch. Cre­ma­tion is planned. The fam­ily plans a cel­e­bra­tion of David’s life in the spring.
