NEW HAVEN — It was more than a happy accident when Paul Sorvino, who played Paulie Cicero in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 film “Goodfellas,” ended up on State Street earlier this year for dinner.

Sorvino’s wife, Dee Dee, posted on Facebook on Jan. 5 that she surprised the 79year-old actor by bringing him to Goodfellas restaurant.

“Everyone went crazy” in the restaurant when they spotted the actor, she wrote.

Although Sorvino is the most recent actor from the film to eat at the restaurant that bears its namesake, he’s not the first. The restaurant claims that both Robert DeNiro and Lorraine Bracco have eaten there since it opened in 2005.
