Joel and robots come to College Street
NEW HAVEN — If you think watching a bad movie with riffing guys and two robots sounds crazy, you need to stay away from College Street Music Hall Saturday, Oct. 13.
But fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 are excited because the show provided more laughs than most comedy movies during its long run on cable TV. And now, it’s not only streaming but its second season of new shows will begin on Thanksgiving, three decades after it began.
The group’s 30th Anniversary Tour will be live at College Street Music Hal featuring, for the first time in 25 years, original host/ show creator Joel Hodgson back in his red jumpsuit as Joel Robinson and riffing alongside new MST3K host Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray).
The tour features the usual cheesy B-movie, hilarious riffing, wisecracking robots, silly sketches, this time with Joel and Jonah commenting together side-by-side.
The New Haven show features a screening of and riffing on “The Brain,” a Canadian science fiction suburban nightmare.
Jonah Rayand Joel Hodgson, with robots, will team up to watch “The Brain.”
