Time for traditional procession, outdoor festival Summer ‘festa’:

-

The colorful opening parade on Thursday evening and the Sunday morning Old World traditional procession through Wooster Square get a lot of attention for their meaning to the St. Andrew the Apostle Society and the Amalfitani-Italian community of New Haven, but there’s a festival to talk about, too, for everyone else. And food; do not forget the food.

The 6 p.m. Thursday parade (as summer officially arrives) leads to the St. Andrew Club grounds at 515 Chapel St., where the 118th anniversary “festa” begins and there will be musical entertainment by Michael Nigretti. Friday will bring strolling accordionist David Glocowski from

6-7 p.m. and Rich DePalma with Gina Liquori performing from 7-10 during “an evening of Neapolitan tradition.”

Saturday night will feature not only Nick Fradiani Sr. as performer from 4:30-6:30 p.m. but the Hofners, the well-known Beatles tribute group that played at the recent Fab Four Fest at Oakdale, from 7-10. East Haven’s Mike Streeto performs as Ringo.

The 10 a.m. Sunday procession through Wooster Square, with the St. Andrew statue prominent, leads to 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Michael’s church in Wooster Square, then strolling musicians from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and tenor Michéal Castaldo from 4-7 p.m.

St. Andrew Club, 515 Chapel St., New Haven. Thursday-Sunday, June 21-24. Thursday 5-9:30 p.m., Friday 5-10 p.m., Saturday 4-10, Sunday 2:30-7 p.m. Free. 203-776-0693.
