Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire: Annual event promises a ye-olde good time
Take a trip back to the ye-olde days, as the
8th annual Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire returns to Ansonia’s Warsaw Park Saturday June 23-Sunday, July 8.
“Since 2011, our mission statement has been to inspire imagination in everyone who walks through our gate,” Daniel GreenWolf, general manager, said in a news release. “And I think this year will prove to be our most exciting season yet.”
This season’s event will include a variety performers and musical acts suitable for all ages. Magicians, comedians, jugglers, fire dancers, pirate bands and live steel combat are all part of 2018’s roster, with a special premiere act featured each weekend.
Visitors also can test their skills at axe throwing, knife throwing and archery at the onsite Proving Ground.
The center piece of the entertainment is the immersive original story line that involves more than 100 costumed characters interacting with patrons throughout the Faire. They complement the more than 60 artisan vendors selling a large range of items, including fantasy and historicallythemed clothing, jewelry, statuary, weaponry, handmade soaps, oils and incense.
The food court will feature such Renaissance Faire standards as turkey legs and soup in a bread bowl, along with new menu options. Also on site will be the Flippyn Byrd Tavern, where adults can purchase beer, hard cider and mead.
“This is no normal craft fair,” GreenWolf said. “This is a fully immersive show where you and your family can become part of the excitement.”
