In addition, the Kathy Thompson Band has been added and will perform on the Green to conclude the series Sept. 19. The Kathy Thompson Band specializes in old-school funk, soul and R &B hits.
The city is presenting the “Singin’ on the Green: Movies & Bands” series with the help of some private organizations. It began
Aug. 8 with a screening of “Mamma Mia!”
The series will continue with a screening of “Grease,” the 1978 musical romantic comedy, on the Green at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 and then a concert of dance party favorites performed by Cleo Blue at 7 p.m. Sept. 14, sponsored by the West Haven Veterans Council and West Haven Vietnam Veterans.
The three concerts all will be on the John C. Ireland Bandstand on the Green. The movie will be shown on a 20-foot-by-12foot projection screen at Campbell Avenue and Main Street, organizers said.
Singin’ on the Green is co-sponsored by West Haven United, a new organization aimed at bringing the city’s volunteer groups together and polishing
West Haven’s image, along with the West Haven Veterans Council and West Haven Vietnam Veterans.
Throughout the series, members of West Haven United will have an informational booth on the Green to register people for future volunteer efforts across the city.
People are invited to bring blankets or chairs.
