East Haven taxes due in January

EAST HAVEN — The East Haven Tax Department would like to remind residents and businesses that the 2017 Grand List Supplement­al tax bills for Motor Vehicles will be mailed by mid-December 2018. All Supplement­al bills will be due and payable on January 1, 2019. Also due and payable will be the 2nd installmen­t on any Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicles tax bills issued in July. Payments may be made during the month of January 2019. There is a 30 day grace period and all bills not paid by February 1, 2019 will be considered delinquent and interest will be charged at 1.5 percent per month. All delinquent tax bills will be sent to a State Marshal or Attorney for collection.

Checks can be made payable to, Collector of Taxes — East Haven. Please have your phone number on the check. Credit cards payments are accepted in the office as well as online @www.townofeast­havenct.org. (Convenienc­e fees apply)

DMV releases are not done immediatel­y. Obtaining a release may take from 24 hours to 10 days, depending on the type of payment received (cash, check, bank check, credit card, e-check) where you make the payment, (mail, office, online) and when payment is received.

The Tax Office is open Monday — Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. The Town Hall will be closed on Tuesday January 1, New Year’s Day and on Monday January 21st, in honor of Martin Luther King.
