• During the 2018-19 school year, along with other talented music students across the United States and overseas in military base schools, Anton Edward Kot from Jonathan Law High School and ACES Educationa­l Center for the Arts joined other students for the National Associatio­n for Music Education’s (NAfME) 2018 All-National Honor Ensembles, held Nov. 25-28 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. • The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) recently announced that New Haven resident Emily Olfson, MD, PhD, was the recipient of AACAP's 2018 Pilot Research Award for General Psychiatry Residents, supported by Industry Supporters. The award provides up to $15,000 of funding for general psychiatry residents who have an interest in beginning a career in child and adolescent mental health research. Dr. Olfson will be recognized at the Junior Research Scholar Lunch during AACAP's 66th Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, Oct. 14-19, 2019.

• Eastern Connecticu­t State University student Katrishia Bell '20 of North Haven is one of a group of Environmen­tal Earth Science (EES) majors who recently participat­ed in field work related to an ongoing undergradu­ate research project at Napatree Point Conservati­on Area (NPCA) in Watch Hill, RI. The NPCA is a natural preserve, an important bird nesting and migratory resting area, and one of the region's finest beaches. She is working under the guidance of EES Assistant Department Chair and Professor Drew Hyatt.
