AMATRUDA, ANNE MARTINO

Anne Martino Amatruda, of North Haven, died peacefully after a short illness on December 6th, 2018 at the age of 89. Anne was predeceased by her husband Andrew, who passed in March of this year. She is survived by her children Andrew Jr., Eugene, John and Diane, her sister Gemma Martino of New Haven and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Eda Martino, Eugene Martino and Yolanda Martino. Anne was born on May 15, 1929 in New Haven, CT to Amalcare and Theresa Martino. Anne worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company after high school and married Andrew Amatruda in 1956. After moving to East Haven, Anne became a fulltime mother, having 4 children over the next 7 years. In 1966, she and the family moved to Charleston, SC for 6 years, after which they settled in North Haven, CT for over 40 years. When the children approached college age, Anne returned to the workforce, originally at Dime Savings Bank and then full circle back to SNET. Anne was a great cook and enjoyed ceramics and other crafts, many of which have been passed down to her children. Anne was also a big UConn Basketball fan, a passion she shared with her husband. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always maintained her sweet disposition.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernadette’s Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and may visit at
