This Summer Can Include Art For Your Youngsters
Select from a range of classes built around popular themes, including super heroes, comics, American Girl Dolls, architecture, Star Wars, the circus or even the Whitney Museum.
The Guilford Art Center (GAC) offers a popular summer youth program from June 17 through Aug. 16 for children ages 3½ to 13 years old. Weekly programs feature a variety of classes geared towards developing creative expression, artistic skills and social interaction through hands-on activities.
No matter what your child’s interest, they’ll find something to explore and learn. Select from a range of classes built around popular themes, including super heroes, comics, American Girl Dolls, architecture, Star Wars, the circus or even the Whitney Museum.
The center’s professional instructors are experienced in teaching children in a caring way, sharing their knowledge of drawing, sewing, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, cartooning and so much more.
Children may attend a halfday program in the morning (9 a.m. to noon) or afternoon (1 to 4 p.m.). Want a full-day program? There is supervised “bridge care” between the hours of noon and 1 p.m., when students can have lunch (which they need to bring), relax and participate in light activities.
Do you have a teen? GAC offers teen art and blacksmithing classes for 13-year-olds all yearround. Additionally, youngsters who are 13 and older are eligible to take any adult class.
Check out all of the class offerings on the Guilford Art Center website (www.guilfordartcenter. org) and register online or call (203) 453-5947.
GAC members save 10 percent on all classes, so consider purchasing a membership to save all year long! Members also receive a 10 percent discount on all shop purchases, select gallery purchases, free admission to the annual Craft Expo on the Guilford Green in July, and invitations to special events.
Summer is a special time for a child – make sure it includes lots of art!
