Summer@STM is the solution
St. Thomas More School’s “Learn to Learn” and “Academic Camp” summer programs combine proven academic program with the best summer activities in a spectacular lake front setting. Whether you want your students to avoid summer “learning loss,” get started on next year, or retake a course that they might’ve underperformed in, spending four weeks this summer at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale will be a great decision.
For middle school students, being ready for ninth grade is critical. Not only are the curriculum and homework expectations more challenging, but performance that first term could set the stage for the next four years. Underperformance may find a student steered toward lower level courses and lower expectations. If your child is working overly hard to get those A’s or find themselves continually in the B and C range now, spending a few weeks working on their English and math skills and learning how to study and take tests more effectively will be time well spent.
For college-bound students entering junior year or senior fall, it is critical to improve grades, prepare for standardized tests and participate in activities outside of the classroom, especially if they underperformed in the previous couple of years. Showing improvement can be just as powerful to admissions officers as four consistent report cards. However, just planning to work harder next fall, is risky and is not really a plan. Students can improve their chance of success by attending Academic Camp this summer to improve English and math skills, start SAT/ ACT prep and improve test-taking and study skills before it is too late.
In addition to your morning class time, students can advance their skills in a sport of their choice, pursue an extracurricular interest indepth, and experience residential dorm living with friends from all over the country/world.
