Home retailer files for bankruptcy

Tuesday Morning filed Wednesday for bankruptcy protection from creditors, with the home goods retailer having 20 stores in New York and New Jersey but only one in New England, in Massachusetts. Tuesday Morning sells home merchandise at discount prices, blaming the bankruptcy on prolonged store closures forced by the coronavirus pandemic. Tuesday Morning becomes the latest Texas-based retailer to declare bankruptcy after Neiman Marcus, J.C. Penney and Stage Stores, with New York City-based J. Crew also filing this month to eliminate debt owed lenders.
