Offering thanks after reelection

-

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the thousands of people, not just in the 90th General Assembly District, but across our state, who supported my campaign for reelection. I most especially want to thank my wife and family for their love and support during this quite unusual campaign season — the peculiarity of which we will probably (and hopefully) never see again during our lifetime.

I never liked roller coasters. I will admit that for my 50th birthday, my wife and I took one of our nieces to Disney World for a few days. Having been alive for half a century, each day I would resign myself to eventual expiration, and let our (then-16-year-old) niece pick a roller coaster of the day in celebration of my milestone. There are pictures from that trip, and I can assure you the green tint to my skin was not a filtering problem. I can also assure you that the roller coasters I have ridden over the last few weeks far eclipse those ever approved by Mickey.

I am glad we kept our campaign message a positive one, focusing on my actual record and positions in the state Legislature. I am most appreciative of the many voters that stood beside me in my continued quest for smaller government, lower taxes and less interference in the day-to-day affairs of our law-abiding citizens, no matter the headlong winds inside, as well as outside of party politics. Running upstream is never the most desired course, but nonetheless arriving at the sought-after destination makes the trip all the more worthwhile.

My best to you and yours in the upcoming holiday season. Please stay safe and healthy as we navigate through these difficult times.
