May 14, 2021
Frances Engel Kirschenbaum peacefully passed away on May 14, 2021. She joins her loving husband of 62 years, Jack Martin Kirschenbaum, who passed away on April 16, 2016. Frances was the daughter of Phillip and Mollie Engel, and was predeceased by her siblings, Bernie and Nat Engel.
Frances was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she and her husband met and began their lives together. Frances and Jack were loving parents to Lisa Kirschenbaum Kandrach and Peter Kirschenbaum, settling their family in Orange, CT. Frances was the proud grandmother to Melissa Kandrach, Samuel Kirschenbaum and Andrew Kirschenbaum. Frances was also blessed with a loving daughter-in-law, Christine Kirschenbaum and supportive son-in-law, John Kandrach.
An inspiring love story, Frances and Jack represented unconditional love and companionship. They worked side-by-side in their dry cleaning stores, and later in their retired years at Sears. Jack and Frances were intentional in the time that they spent with their family, sowing traditions and instilling values that will be carried on with love and respect by each person.
Frances will be remembered for her immense love for her family, which she expressed frequently through her exuberant attendance of life events and meaningful daily phone calls. A lover of fashion, she will forever be remembered for her intricate ensembles and adorned jewelry and accessories. Her family will carry on her traditions of matzoh ball-making and fondly remember the love and care that went into each handcrafted piece. Her community of friends will remember and adore her strength and perseverance, and of course, her wit. Her family loved her dearly and will carry on her legacy, her inspirations and her teachings for years to come. She will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of love and joy.
