Mary E. Reilly of Hamden died August 25, 2021. She was born in New Haven December 29, 1923, daughter of the late Daniel and Ellen Leary Reilly. She was predecease­d by her sister Helen Reilly. Mary had a strong work ethic, working from age 16 until she retired at age 82. Mary worked for 44 years at Hoffman Paint & Wallpaper on Howard Ave., New Haven before becoming executive secretary to the President of Quinnipiac first for Dr. Bennett then John Lahey. She was proud of her Irish heritage and was a loyal Quinnipiac University supporter. Mary enjoyed marching in the New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade as a member of the Quinnipiac University Staff. As an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, she served on the Parish Council, was a Eucharisti­c Minister and belonged to the Marian Guild. Mary attended daily mass well into her 90’s. She faithfully continued to attend Mass via television when unable to attend in person. Mary was the keeper of the family history. She took pride in the accomplish­ments of her extended family and friends. She was the godmother to Russell Duffy, Robert Reilly and Kieran Duffy. Miss Reilly maintained a youthful appearance and positive attitude for most of her life.

She enjoyed meeting people and had an infectious smile. Mary enjoyed traveling to visit family in Ireland, and on church sponsored trips to Rome, Switzerlan­d and Lourdes. The family would like to thank Maya Ateyeva for the compassion­ate care she provided for Mary.

Her funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden Monday at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to Our Lady of MT.
