Living full lives
It was refreshing to read good news about Israel in the piece entitled, “Israeli baseball’s many CT connections.” Too often there are op-eds that are nothing more than diatribes against Israel in an effort to delegitimize it.
There is so much to say about Israel beyond the “conflict” and the perverse 73-year effort by the Arab world to eliminate this democracy from their midst. I enjoy reading about Israel’s many endeavors and successes, be they in medical advancements, agricultural innovations, water purification, humanitarian aid to Africa, high-tech innovation, gay rights, artistic and culinary achievement, and, apparently, even sports, including judo, baseball and basketball. It was also gratifying to see how much Israel and Connecticut have in common.
While Israel, not surprisingly, lost its baseball game against the U.S. and struggled against South Korea, it’s nice to be reminded that Israel does considerably more than ward off attacks by neighboring countries and that its people live the fullest of lives. Dr. Rosette Liberman
