State parks hit capacity in Middletown and Hamden on Monday

HAMDEN — Multiple state parks are closed to new visitors after reaching capacity Monday, according to the Department of Energy and Environmen­tal Protection.

Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown was closed at 1:45 p.m., while Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden was closed earlier in the day at 11:19 a.m..

Kent Falls State Park in Kent closed at 1:56 p.m and Millers Pond State Park in Haddam closed at 2:09 p.m.

Tours of the castle at Gillete Castle State Park in East Haddam also sold out for the day, officials said.

State park closures are announced on the @CTStatePar­ks Twitter account.
