NEW HAVEN — A city man was fatally shot in Fair Haven late Monday, according to New Haven police.
Officers responded to Poplar Street between its intersections with Lombard and Chatham streets around 11:29 p.m., Officer Scott Shumway said.
“Responding officers located a 45-year-old New Haven man who had been struck by gunfire. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene,” Shumway said.
Police later Tuesday identified the man as Fernando Gonzalez-Sandoz, of New Haven.
Shumway asked witnesses to contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304.
He said callers may remain anonymous or submit tips anonymously by calling 1-866-888-TIPS(8477), or texting “NHPD” plus your message to 274637 (CRIMES).
