Lois Meier

Lois Meier, 69, of Hamden, passed away at her home on September 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in New Haven on May 6, 1952 to the late Salvatore and Lena (Andreoli) Esposito. After growing up in West Haven, Lois moved to Hamden where she and the love of her life of 51 years, Richard Meier, raised their family. She had a happy life where family was everything. She loved cooking and baking for them and spending time together. Lois owned Appearances Hair Salon in Hamden, and also taught at the Paul Mitchell Academy in North Haven. She later was a partner in ProVac Answering Service.

Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. “Gramma Lou” could never get enough of them and loved cheering them on with every passing milestone.

She was the epitome of a fighter. After being diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago, she never gave up. Her will to survive and continue to live an active life till just a week ago, continued to keep her family, friends, and care team in awe.

Besides her husband Richard, Lois will be lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Meier of Hamden; daughter, Marga Verneris and her husband Marc of Cheshire; grandchildren, Hailey Verneris (Jonpaul Gonzalez) and Jacob Verneris; great-grandson, Jackson Gonzalez, niece Kim, and nephews Josh and JJ. Lois had amazing friends who stood by her side and helped care for her.

Her family will be forever grateful to all those amazing “LADIES.” Her family would also like to thank Dr. Erin Hofstater, Dr. Kristin Knowlton, and the people at Smilow, including the PET crew, NP8, NP12, and Gracie in scheduling for taking such good care of her.

Friends may visit with her family on Friday, September 10th, from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
