Police: Two men shot in Fair Haven overnight
NEW HAVEN — Two men were shot in the Fair Haven neighborhood overnight, according to city police.
Officers first responded to East Pearl Street between Grand Avenue and Exchange Street at about 8:09 p.m. Tuesday for a 911 call of a person shot, Officer Scott Shumway said in an email. “Responding officers located a 32-yearold West Haven man struck by gunfire. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition,” said Shumway.
Police then responded to Shelter Street between Grand Avenue and Clay Street at approximately 2:18 a.m. Wednesday for multiple 911 calls about a person shot and gunfire, Shumway said.
“Responding officers located a 56-year-old New Haven man struck by gunfire. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he is listed in critical condition,” said Shumway.
Shumway asked that any witnesses who have not yet spoken with the department contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304.
