What you need to know: Northeast Conference favorite Sacred Heart looked true to form in its season opener, shutting out Bucknell 21-0 last Saturday. Senior running back and Walton Payton Award candidate Julius Chestnut ran 26 times for 170 yards and a touchdown while junior Marquez McCray threw for 159 yards and a score. The Pioneers outgained Bucknell 455-143. Up next is their NEC opener against the Bulldogs, who are coming off a 45-21 loss to Rhode Island. Bryant placed two Connecticut natives on the All-NEC preseason team: defensive lineman Jack Daly (Glastonbury) and defensive back/return specialist Andre Brackett (East Windsor).
