Carol Ann Marra August 31, 1944 - September 11, 2021
Carol Ann Marra, 77, of Guilford, passed away September 11, 2021, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Carol was born in New Haven to the late Christopher and Camille Serfilippi. She and her younger sister Donna attended St. Anthony’s School and Hillhouse High School and was raised Roman Catholic. Even at an early age, family was the cornerstone of Carol’s life.
In 1966 Carol married the love of her life Robert Marra. The two had a beautiful 55year marriage. In 1973 they moved to Guilford to raise their family, daughter Nicole Casiero, son Christopher Marra, and daughter Lauren Marra. She was blessed with two grandsons, Jonathan Marra and Gabriel Casiero and loved spending time with them more than anything. Carol was a devoted wife and loving mother and was close with not only her own children but with her entire extended family.
Carol returned to work in 1988 at Oce Bruning (later Arkwright) in Guilford, where she worked for almost 20 years as a receptionist and plant buyer. Carol later worked as a teacher’s aide at the St. Mary’s School which would become East Shore Catholic Academy. Carol was deeply faithful and was passionately involved in St. George’s Church in Guilford. She was a religious education instructor, a Eucharistic minister, and a volunteer for many of the churches’ charities, and was active in the church choir. In addition, she was a volunteer for Interfaith Ministry in Guilford, Charlie’s Closet in Guilford, The Amistad House in New Haven and Meals on Wheels in Guilford.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert of Guilford, sister Donna Hodge and brother-in-law William Hodge of Killingworth, daughter Nicole Casiero, son-in-law Mark Casiero and grandson Gabriel Casiero of Guilford, son Christopher Marra, daughterin-law Carolyn Marra and grandson Jonathan Marra of Deep River, daughter Lauren Marra of Guilford, lifelong friends Pattie Caprolione and Janet Pasani, her seven nieces and nephews and their families. Carol was beloved in her community and will be greatly missed by her friends and family members.
A mass is scheduled in her honor Saturday, September 18th at 12:30 at St. George Church in Guilford, with a reception at the church to follow.
