William H. West, III,

76, died peacefully at the Connecticu­t Hospice in Branford, CT on August

26, 2021. Bill was the son of the late Ruth (Banford) and William H. West, Jr and was raised in Manhasset, NY. Following graduation from high school, he earned a BA from Alfred University and a Masters of Divinity from Andover Newton Theologica­l School. Bill served as Assistant Minister at the United Congregati­onal Church in Andover, MA and in Westport, CT. He then became Director of Youth Services Bureau, Westport, and later worked for the Greater Bridgeport Non-Profit agencies. After becoming a board-certified chaplain from the Hartford Seminary, Bill served as a Protestant chaplain initially at St Francis Hospital, Hartford, then St. Raphael Hospital (YNHH), New Haven until his retirement in 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth West and grandsons Theo and Quinten Ewasko of Newtown, CT, brother Robert and wife Gail, of Farmington, CT, two nieces and a nephew. He was predecease­d by his wife, Margaret in 2017.

Bill will be greatly missed and remembered for his kind and gentle manner which touched all who knew him.

A service in his memory will be held at the First Congregati­onal Church, Deep River, CT, on September 25 at 1 PM. Please check church website www.deepriverc­c. org for latest covid guidelines.
