Don’t tempt fate
I feel compelled to reply to Andrew Adamcyzyk’s letter to the editor about not blaming the victim of car burglaries and break-ins.
While I agree in theory that thieves shouldn’t rob unlocked cars or take advantage of key fobs left in vehicles, he’s wrong.
It’s just plain foolish to do so. Leaving valuables in plain sight in locked cars is also irresponsible. It’s an open invitation to thieves who have no regard for other people’s property. Every one of us needs to take all precautions to protect ourselves and our families, which includes keeping the doors locked to our vehicles and homes. There is no such thing as a “safe” neighborhood anymore. Things like that happen in every town and city across the state.
There is an old saying, “Don’t tempt fate!” Don’t tempt fate by not taking personal responsibility for keeping your vehicles and homes safe from the nefarious people who will take advantage at every turn.
