Gearld “Gary” Benway

In New Haven, September 17, 2021 Gearld “Gary” D. Benway 80, Retired Hamden Police Lieutenant. Husband of Sandra Fetterman Benway. Loving father of Jennifer Viana of Ashburnham, MA, Keith Benway of Ocala, FL, and predeceased by a son Gary Benway. Brother of Brian Benway, Kathryne Dauphinais, and Shirley Bathurst all of Milford, predeceased by a brother Walter Benway, and a sister Sharon Zientek. Also survived by his 8 cherished grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren and daughter-in-law Angela Gonzalez. Mr. Benway was born in Danbury, CT on July 12, 1941, son of the late David and Frances Estes Benway. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Hamden Police Dept. serving 22 years in the force. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St.
