Mary Prando Calcagni, 92, formerly of North Branford, passed away peacefully Friday, September 17, 2021. Mary Sarah was born in New Haven on July 14, 1929, the daughter of Angelo and Raffaella Fabi Prando. She graduated from Hill House High School, class of 1947. On January 21, 1953 Mary married the late John (Jack) Miller Calcagni. They were married for 66 years before Jack’s passing in January 2018. In her earlier years, Mary was employed at the First National Bank in New Haven. She then worked at the Union Trust Bank on Main Street in Branford (today known as Wells Fargo) before retiring in 1990. Mary is survived by her beloved sons, John C. (Raeanne) Calcagni of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Arthur F. (Nancy) Calcagni of Niantic. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons ( who affectionately called her “Noni”), John Michael Calcagni of Greensboro, North Carolina, Daniel James Calcagni of Atlanta, Georgia and Timothy Lawrence Calcagni of Wallingford. Mary was predeceased by her adored sister Laura P. Negro, and will be lovingly missed by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Mary treasured the time she spent with her family. Her home in North Branford was the center of countless celebrations filled with good food and laughter. She also loved spending summers vacationing with family at Lake Memphremagog in Newport, Vermont fishing, boating, playing cards and cooking. We will all miss her unconditional love and wonderful sense of humor, and we will all remember her sweet and gentle spirit. The family would like to thank the staff of the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford for all of their compassionate care. Due to Covid-19, there will be no calling hours. A mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road in North Branford. Interment will immediately follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. in Hartford.
