Remo Pacelli passed away September 24, 2021 at the age of 79. Born in New Haven on July 20, 1942, Remo was a proud US Army veteran. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Pacelli Cretella, father, Remo Pacelli Sr., and stepfather Joseph Cretella. Remo grew up in a close-knit Italian family of his loving grandparents Antonio and Maria Santacroce, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he cherished. His family helped in creating a lifetime of joyous, and at times humorous, memories. The friendships Remo developed throughout his life were equally cherished, as Remo’s friends, and their families, were an essential, loving part of his life. Also a man of great faith, Remo was a longtime communicant and volunteer at St. Rose of Lima in New Haven and supported numerous charities throughout his lifetime. An avid sports fan, he had special enthusiasm for Alabama’s “Crimson Tide,” the San Francisco Giants, and a local youth basketball team, “Team Margaret,” he sponsored in honor of his mother at Farnam Neighborhood House in New Haven. Remo, a man of wit, faith, and compassion, will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church at 10:00. Per the City of New Haven, masks must be worn for all indoor services. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial donations in Remo’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Share a memory and sign Remo’s guest book online at www. iovanne.com.
