FOOTBALL: WEEK 3’S TOP PERFORMERS
Jack Barnum, Southington: The Southington quarterback had four passing touchdowns and 128 yards in the air.
Joe Booska, Stratford: Had three passing touchdowns including a late 63-yard pass to snap Stratford’s losing streak and defeat Law 34-27.
Mike Brosnan, Granby/Canton: Had two forced fumbles, and a safety with four total tackles in Granby/Canton’s 42-0 shutout victory over Windsor Locks.
Matt Chuchro, Northwest Catholic: The quarterback completed 12 of 22 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 60 yards on eight carries. He also had six tackles and an assist in NWC’s 33-25 win over Bethel.
Casey Corrigan, Morgan: The sophomore rushed for 123 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns. Corrigan also had a 2-point conversion reception and a sack on defense.
Justin DeFonce, ATI: DeFonce was involved in three touchdowns — a 62 yard punt return, 25-yard catch and a 41-yard passing touchdown.
Miles Drake, Darien: The quarterback rushed for a 31-yard TD and passed for a 62-yard TD in No. 1 Darien’s 27-14 win over then No. 3 Newtown.
Caden Drezek, Seymour: The junior quarterback went 11for-18 for 253 passing yards and two TDs while also rushing for a TD.
Brendan Gilchrist, Norwalk: The defensive end had 11 solo tackles (12 total) with 6.5 tackles for losses, a sack and a forced fumble in Norwalk’s 31-8 win over Danbury.
Justin Keller, Ridgefield: Had a rushing touchdown and threw for two more as Ridgefield defeated then No. 8 Xavier 28-7.
Ethan LaGuardia, South Windsor: Rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns while passing for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Trey Lanham, Bunnell: The quarterback had three rushing touchdowns in Bunnell’s 37-19 win over Joel Barlow.
Braden Lankarge, Coginchaug: Completed 11-of-18 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 81 yards on 10 carries for a touchdown and two-point conversion.
Justin McCormack, New Fairfield: With New Fairfield trailing in the fourth quarter, the quarterback came through in the clutch with a rushing touchdown and a 12-yard TD pass to get past Sheehan 14-13.
Mark McLaughlin, Stafford co-op: Was 5-for-10 in the air for 100 yards and a touchdown and rushed for three touchdowns and 106 yards on 10 carries.
Darell McKnight, Ansonia: Rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries as Ansonia defeated Holy Cross 28-7.
Clem Neary, Amity: The Amity captain scored three touchdowns, one receiving, one on a kick return and the third on and pick six.
Andrew Nye, Morgan: Went 13-for-19 in the air for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Nye now has nine touchdowns over his last two games.
Ryan Outlow, Ledyard: Rushed for four touchdowns and 246 yards in Ledyard’s 34-8 victory over Waterford.
De’Shaun Perry, Rockville: Totaled five touchdowns in Rockville’s 42-12 over Gilbert, four rushing and one receiving. Perry finished with 233 yards on 17 carries.
Victor Rosa, Bristol Central: Rushed for 240 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries as Bristol Central defeated Wethersfield 28-18.
Christian Russo, Cheshire: Ran for 250 yards on 18 carries for two touchdowns as Cheshire defeated Staples 42-14.
Nick Saccu, Masuk: The senior quarterback returns to the top performers list after accounting for six touchdowns (three rushing and three passing) as Masuk defeated Hillhouse 5314.
Antwone Santiago, Platt: Had three touchdowns on a 60yard punt return, 20 yard reception and seven yard rush.
Colin Skene, Middletown: The sophomore quarterback went 22-for-35 in the air with a passing touchdown in Middletown’s 20-16 loss to West Haven.
Corbin Smith, Trumbull: Scored three touchdowns including the go-ahead score and two-point conversion in the final quarter as Trumbull defeated Ludlowe 29-28.
Seth Sweitzer, Daniel Hand: Caught eight passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Hand’s loss to New Canaan. He also had an interception to set up one of his touchdowns.
Jerry Torres, Bassick: The quarterback threw four touchdowns to help Bassick overcome a 12-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat rival Bridgeport Central 24-18. He also played nearly every snap on defense.
Maxwell Warren, St. Joseph: Compiled 183 yards and three touchdowns in the air as St. Joseph defeated Windsor 45-22.
