Stevenson, Xavier upset No. 1 Fairfield Prep

Brady Stevenson had a goal and an assist for the Xavier soccer team, which upset No. 1 ranked Fairfield Prep 3-1 Tuesday in an SCC game at Fairfield.

Jack Polke and Finn Russell also scored for Xavier. Luciano Paoletta had a penalty kick for the Jesuits.

Guilford 2, Cheshire 1: Sami Abu-Ghazaleh and Andres Gutierrez scored within 6 minutes of each other in the second half to help Guilford come from behind to beat Cheshire in SCC action at home. Noah Gougsa scored for Cheshire.

Law 4, Lyman Hall 2: Marcus Dostal scored twice for Law, which remained undefeated in this SCC win at Milford.

Lex Edwards added a goal and two assists for the Lawmen (6-0). Yahya Kardad scored for Lyman Hall.

FIELD HOCKEY

Branford 1, Hand 0: Scout Engstrom scored off an assist from Nora Longway in the fourth quarter for Branford in an SCC home win. Nina Shamas made two big saves in the fnal quarter to help preserve the win.

Guilford 7, Lyman Hall 0: Maddie Epke and Ella Clarke both scored twice for Guilford in an SCC home win.

Branford 3, North Haven 1: Brenna Murphy, Madeline Resendes and Lucy Moran all scored for Branford in an SCC win at North Haven. Ada Forbes scored for North Haven.

West Haven 3, Foran 1: Jaylyn Powell scored twice for West Haven in the SCC home win.
