‘Sustainability Day’ set for the farmers market
WEST HAVEN — Friday is “Sustainability Day” at the city’s farmers market.
The “interactive day” will include farmers, a special guest and seasonal vendors, and community organizations, according to the city. The Tony Inzero Farmers Market, West Haven SustainableCT and ArtsWestCT will present the day, the city said in a release.
“Let’s celebrate together by learning more about sustainability efforts in our community and in our homes,” Karina Curbelo, who manages the farmers market for the mayor’s office, said, in the release.
The Sustainability Day market is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 on the Green at Campbell Avenue and Main Street.
The market, held every Thursday and Saturday through Oct. 23, “features a variety of farm-fresh goods, including honey, flowers, fruits and vegetables, from longtime Connecticut Grown farmers Mary Ann Borrelli, the owner of Borrelli Farms, and John Marcucio, the owner of Marcucio Farms,” according to the city.
The Sustainability Day market is scheduled tp have guest vendors and regular vendors, with a range of goods, including precious metal jewelry, crystal jewelry, homemade candles, handmade masks, handcrafted soaps, wine-infused gummy bears and more, according to the city.
There also will be a variety of natural skin and hair care products for sale.
The event also is intended to showcase organizations including the ArtsWestCT, the Connecticut Alzheimer’s Association, the PosiGen Solar table, and the United Illuminating table, which will have a representative from Tallento Energy, according to the city.
