Chamber arts and crafts fest to feature array of works
OLD SAYBROOK — The 57th annual Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce arts and crafts festival will take place on the Town Green Saturday and Sunday.
The event will feature
100 artists and crafters from all across New England and as far away as Florida, an announcement said. Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admisssion and parking are free.
“It’s a juried show, which means the committee works hard to ensure that the exhibitor handcrafts the items they are selling,” Chamber Executive Director Judy Sullivan said in a prepared statement.
Exhibitors will offer acrylics, graphics, mixed media, oils, pastels, photography, sculpture, watercolors, ceramics, pottery, consumables, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal and wood.
Food and refreshments will also be available.
The annual festival is normally held in July, but,
due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was canceled in 2020. In February, the chamber Board of Directors met, and unanimously voted to move the date to October so it would have more time to get prepared for opening day.
The festival, an Old Saybrook tradition that dates back decades, the news release said, has been a big draw. Attendance estimates in years past have been as high as 10,000 visitors to the fair between the two days.
