Hamden’s mayoral race
Hamden’s mayoral race is now between two candidates. Ron Gambardella, endorsed Republican candidate, and Lauren Garrett, endorsed Democratic candidate. As a former Democratic Town Committee chairperson, I have witnessed the Democrats move further and further to the left. What was once a proud and moderate party has now become an organization of highly motivated socialists destined to change the very fabric of our town’s government.
Hamden has been my home for most all of my life. It pains me to see Lauren Garrett at the top of the Democratic ticket. This is not the Democratic Party that we were proud of. Her stance on crime will weaken the police force to such a point that crime can only go in one direction — higher. One needs only to see what is happening in New York and San Francisco to understand what she envisions for Hamden.
I have known Ron Gambardella for over 40 years. He has accounting and economics educational training as well as strong financial experience. He holds an MBA in finance, served on the Legislative Town Council for four years, he was vice chairman of the finance committee and member of the audit committee. He was also a member of the Connecticut Community Colleges Board of Trustees. He manages over $30 million dollars in private citizen’s pension funds. He previously was employed by the former Southern New England Telephone company where he spent most of his career in finance. I would say Ron is what Hamden needs now, someone who can lead us out of the financial mess we are in. I will be voting for Ron on Nov. 2. I hope you do the same for the sake of Hamden’s future.
