Cops: Crash victim was East Haven woman, 56

NORTH BRANFORD — Police have identified the person killed in a Tuesday crash as an East Haven woman.

Rebecca Buecher, 56, died in the crash, which took place soon before 6:30 p.m. on Branford Road near its intersection with Valley Road, police said Thursday.

North Branford officers, along with firefighters from North Branford and Branford, responded to a reported crash with injuries on Branford Road near its intersection with Valley Road around 6:22 p.m., officials said in the email.

“Emergency responders performed life saving measures by extricating one of the operators from a motor vehicle. The injured operators were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious and life threatening injuries,” police said.

“Unfortunately we are deeply saddened to report that even with the heroic work of our first responders one of the (operators) succumbed to their injuries at Yale New Haven Hospital,” police said.

Police asked any witnesses or people with information about the crash to call the department at 203-484-2703.

“Our heart goes out to all those involved, especially the friends and family of the deceased,” police said.
