Official: Student brought BB gun to school

NEW HAVEN — A student allegedly brought a BB gun to Bishop Woods School Thursday morning, according to a district spokesman.

The BB gun was not loaded, spokesman Justin Harmon said.

All students and staff are safe, he said.

“The student’s action was a serious breach of school rules, which bar weapons of any kind on school premises,” Harmon said.

Harmon said the Police Department was notified and investigated the situation.

“We would like to commend the brave students and staff that made us aware of this situation,” he said.

The magnet school on Quinnipiac Avenue serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
