SEAN PATRICK BOWLEY’S GUIDE TO THE GAMES

-

FRIDAY CCC

Berlin (3-1) at Maloney (3-1), 6:30 p.m.: Probably the weekend’s best matchup, and a massive game.

Plainville (3-1) at Lewis Mills (2-2), 6:30 p.m.: Give Plainville credit, it’s been hanging in there.

South Windsor (2-2) at Tolland (3-0), 7 p.m.: Get this: Sheehan’s 2019 coordinators will be 8-0 if Egazarian’s Eagles continue their hot start.

New Britain (0-4) at Manchester (0-4), 6 p.m.: This has “42-41 OT” written all over it.

Glastonbury (0-4) at Newington (4-0), 6:30 p.m.: I wouldn’t try falling behind two scores again, Newington. Glastonbury’s a different 0-4 animal.

Southington (3-1) at Middletown (0-4), 6:30 p.m.: Middletown showed signs of life last week. But, as above, Southington coming off a loss is a different animal.

Windsor (3-1) at East Hartford (2-2), 6:30 p.m.: Give East Hartford this much: It’s been a really fun team to watch.

Avon (1-0) at Bloomfield (4-0), 7 p.m.: Too bad Avon’s used up all its sick days.

Conard (2-2) at Wethersfield (2-2), 7 p.m.: In a bygone era, Conard would have been 02-2.

Simsbury (2-2) at Enfield (0-4), 7 p.m.: Consider this your dress rehearsal for Windsor next week, Trojans.

ECC

Woodstock (3-1) at Montville (0-3), 6 p.m.: It took Woodstock 14 years to reach this win total in the ECC. Look at ‘em now.

FCIAC

Stamford (0-3) at Ridgefield (2-1), 7 p.m.: When’s the St. Joseph game, Tigers?

NVL

Crosby (0-2) at Oxford (0-2), 6 p.m.: Oxford went from a bye week, to playing Derby to playing Crosby. Whatever, at least they’re playing.

Derby (0-2) at Torrington (2-2), 7 p.m.: If Semonich is on, so is T-Town. And he was on last week.

St. Paul (1-2) at Wilby (0-4), 7 p.m.: Last trip to Municipal a few weeks ago was not very fun for St. Paul.

Wolcott (1-2) at Seymour (3-0), 7 p.m.: Wolcott always gives Seymour trouble.

PEQUOT

CREC (1-3) at North Branford (0-2), 6:30 p.m.: To anyone who thought CREC might be a pushover in the Sassacus: Sorry, not sorry.

Haddam-Killingworth (1-2) at Coginchaug Co-Op (4-0), 6:30 p.m.: It’s well past time to take Coginchaug seriously.

Granby/Canton (4-0) at Ellington (4-0), 6:30 p.m.: OK, Ellington’s a contender again. But are the Knights for real?

Rockville (1-1) at Coventry Co-Op (0-3), 6:30 p.m.: Rockville’s still got plenty of chances to prove itself.

SMSA (2-2) at Stafford Co-Op (2-2), 6:30 p.m.: Stafford committed five turnovers vs. Coginchaug, which isn’t going to help its 4season playoff streak.

SCC

Lyman Hall (0-3) at East Haven (0-1), 7 p.m.: Are you still with us, Yellowjackets?

Sheehan (1-1) at Hand (1-2), 7 p.m.: This isn’t going to help Sheehan’s Class S title defense any.

SWC

Bunnell (3-1) at Weston (1-2), 7 p.m.: Jury’s still out on Bunnell, but so far so good.

ALLIANCE

Plainfield at Amistad, 3 p.m.: It’s well past time to hold an intervention on Plainfield’s suspect scheduling practices.

Capital/AF (1-2) at Bristol Eastern (2-2), 6:30 p.m.: Some league would be lucky to have you, Capial Prep.

East Lyme (1-3) at Guilford (1-3), 6:30 p.m.: Just a couple of breaks separate East Lyme from being 3-1.

New Fairfield at Fitch, 6:30 p.m.: Does Alliance membership kick in a percentage of the travel budget for these treks?

SATURDAY CCC

East Catholic (1-3) at RHAM (1-3), 2:30 p.m.: Ought to be competitive, at least.

E.O. Smith (1-3) at NWC (1-2), 10:30 a.m.: E.O. Smith’s mascot should be a rooster. Then again, 10:30 might feel like 7 p.m.. after last week’s kickoff.

Bristol Central (3-1) at Hartford Public (2-2), 1 p.m.: This oughta feel like a heavyweight fight: Rosa vs. Garcia.

CTC

Cheney Tech (3-0) at Prince Tech (2-2), 10:30 a.m.: Let’s test that record of yours, Beavers.

Westhill (0-2) at Trumbull (2-1), Noon: If Shelton couldn’t stop Corbin Smith, what shot do Vikings have?

NVL FCIAC

Naugatuck (2-1) at Kennedy (1-2), 10 a.m.: NVL opponents dread the Saturday morning trip to Municipal. At least it isn’t far for Naugy.

Woodland (3-1) at Holy Cross (3-1), 4:30 p.m.: Holy Cross took care of Torrington. Woodland… didn’t.

PEQUOT

Cromwell/Portland (2-0) at Valley/OL (1-2), 1 p.m.: Please Owen, Don’t Hurt ‘Em (2021)

Windsor Locks Co-Op (0-2) at Gilbert/NW/ Housy (1-2), 1 p.m.: Gilbert finally got off the mat last week. WL hasn’t scored yet.
