McKnight’s 3 touchdowns lead Ansonia past WCA

Darell McKnight scored three touchdowns to lead the Ansonia football team to a 27-8 win over Waterbury Career Academy in Waterbury on Thursday.

McKnight scored on touchdown runs of 3, 16 and 46 yards.

David Yates scored on a 22-yard fumble return for Waterbury Career Academy.

BOYS SOCCER

Morgan 3, Coginchaug 0: Tyler Mucha and Matt Lopez each had a goal and an assist to lead the Huskies to a Shoreline

Conference win. Logan Bender had 14 saves for the Blue Devils.

GIRLS SOCCER

Amity 2, Mercy 2 (OT): Nicole Grosso scored an unassisted goal at 65:11 to lift the Spartans to an SCC tie in Woodbridge.

Kate Donlan scored her second goal of the game at 55:58 to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Melina Ford had eight saves for Mercy (6-2-2). Grace Lodewick had four saves for Amity (7-1-1)

FIELD HOCKEY

Hand 10, Lyman Hall 0: Jordan Kells and Alanna Fay had two goals each to lead the Tigers to an SCC win. Hand improved to 5-4-1.

Old Saybrook 4, HaddamKillingworth 0: MacKenna Cooke had two goals and two assists and Alexa Coty added a goal and an assist to lead the Rams to a Shoreline Conference win. The Rams improved to 9-1-1.
